Scientist (Laboratory based LCMS-Bioanalysis) - York

York Bioanalytical is looking for an enthusiastic experienced bioanalyst to perform bioanalytical GLP/GCP studies involving laboratory work such as sample preparation and analysis within our mass spectrometry Delivery Team to support human or animal health drug development. The position will require regular effective communication with Responsible Scientists (study managers) and a network of internal departments, Commercial Development, Analytical Scientists, Development Team, Quality Assurance and Laboratory Support Team.

Key duties will include:

  • Performing assigned GLP and GCP analytical studies
  • To ensure all work is performed efficiently to regulatory standards whilst meeting Sponsor/client deadlines
  • Effective communication with other mass spec analysts when coordinating lab work for analytical studies
  • To develop expertise and to perform analytical techniques and laboratory procedures as required
  • Assisting the Responsible Scientist (study managers) in communication with the Sponsor/client
  • To be responsible for the processing, collation and checking of analytical data
  • To ensure that all raw data generated within assigned studies are fully documented and recorded
  • Support the mentoring and training of more junior analysts to liaise with management and Quality Assurance staff to identify and implement improvements in compliance with GLP/GCP requirements
  • To liaise with and assist management in the safe operation of the laboratory

The requirements:

  • You will ideally be educated to degree level or a higher degree in a relevant scientific subject
  • At least 5 years’ experience of work in a Bioanalytical GLP environment.
  • Experience in analysis of a range of analytes including small molecule drugs, peptides and biomarkers
  • Strong troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Proven organisational skills, self-motivated and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Good planning and problem-solving ability
  • A thorough approach to record keeping and documentation
  • Good time management, decision making and prioritisation skills  


The grading of this role is flexible dependant on experience and relevant qualifications.
