‘Off-the-shelf’ bioanalytical methods for interaction compounds and concomitantly administered drugs
When we launched YBS in 1999, we were quite strongly against the publication of long lists of ‘off-the-shelf’ methods, on the basis that these were often wildly optimistic (to be kind) in their scope, or out of date, or otherwise inappropriate (incorrect concentration range, wrong anticoagulant, not validated to current standards, etc). We preferred the idea that we would set up methods for off-patent drugs to order, and at our cost, clients’ requirements for concentration range, anticoagulant, etc were met, and that the methods were validated to internationally recognised levels. This has worked well, and we have gradually built up a rather nice portfolio of off-the-shelf methods – which is almost contrary to our initial philosophy!
