The above meeting was held in Kansas City, over three days in September 2000. As the title suggests, the meeting was the first in what is intended to be a series, broadly inspired by the “Guildford” series of symposia which has run in the UK since the 1970s. The meeting was highly focused, being limited to approximately 120 bioanalytical scientists. The majority of attendees were from academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and CROs.
