Radiolabelled Metabolism Studies
Radiolabelled ADME studies are routinely performed as part of the drug development process; the dosing of radiolabelled compound to humans and toxicology species provides key information on potential new drugs, including mass balance, routes of excretion and routes of metabolism, whilst in vitro studies using radiolabelled material can be used to explore reaction phenotyping and enzymology characteristics. In vivo ADME studies are usually considered as the definitive source of data on human metabolism, and the results provide essential context around the need for further investigations of compound safety.
